Finally got the results of my biopsy:

Histiocytes, colloid and scant fragments of benign epithelium without cytologic atypia, consistent with a non-neoplastic thyroid nodule.

Kim, so sorry you had this run-around. It's happened to me before and I know how maddening it can be when anxiously waiting. :headbang: Good on you for being so proactive, though, and getting those results….which are GREAT! Although you have a bunch of annoying “grapes” there, it must be a big relief to know you're just dealing with bothersome nodules. If you see a specialist, maybe they'd be open to trying the tetracycline or ethanol route with you to see if you can get those devils down.

Thanks for the update, as you've been in my thoughts this past week.

    Peace, Maz

    Kim,

I'm so relieved that your news was good, altho difficult to obtain. As to your question as to what happens to people who are not on top of things, they often end up very ill and beyond help, like my cousins husband, Tim. How can we have such wonderful medicines, tests and surgeries and yet still have so much difficulty getting care? I hope you find a good doctor for this problem.

Thanks ladies. 🙂  As long as it's not cancer I don't feel the sense of urgency.  I do, however, feel the sense of dread in breaking in a new doctor and having to defend my use of antibiotics for Lyme, SD, RA, Hashi's, etc. etc. etc.  Even though I've gotten better I still haven't turned the head of one of my doctors…….yet it's still one of my goals. 😉

    Hugs…….kim

    Hey Kim,
Awesome news! Those damn things sound the same as mine. If you get to the bottom of this thyroid nightmare please share the treatment with the rest of us cystas.
I mentioned the ethanol injection with my doctor and he said they do that very seldom as it causes the tissue to become necrotic which could lead to some permanent damage to the vocal cords which are right there. That makes good sense to me. There are medications they can give to shrink the nodules but the word is that too is rather ineffective.
I suppose an endocrinologist may pump you full of hormones which also could reduce nodules but then we have to worry about the side effects of the hormones. The good news is it's benign.
My isthmus gave me a horse voice today and I don't know if it is my imagination but it sure seems like the damn thing is bigger.
Tomorrow I go for the first round of prolotherapy on my ganglion cyst of the wrist and ganglion cyst of the pinky.
I wish he could give me the prolotherapy for the isthmus cyst (dang, is that a mouthful!)
Thanks for venting. You made my day friend!

    Patti,

Good luck with the prolo, my LLMD swears by it.  Can't wait to hear if you get relief.

    Hi All,
Tomorrow is another stinking thyroid day. Biopsy number 2 at 9 am. Of course I am nervous again just hate this whole thing.
I am having the cyst drained again along with the biopsy. The first radiologist is not available so have the department head which means he will probably not tell me a thing tomorrow.

Kim here are the tests my doctor had ordered for bloodwork. How did I do?

    TSH,free T3, free T4, 2PP glucose, 1,25 dihydroxy-vit-D,25-hyperdroxy vit D,
plus a clotting factor check for the radiologist.

Also stated I have an elevated C peptid. Didn't know that one. Can't find that info.
    I will keep you posted.

Poor Patti, I hate that you're having another biopsy, they are NOT fun. :crying:

I am not the one to comment on what blood tests to order.  As of now, I've seen a handful of endocrinologists trying to sort out my thyroid/adrenal/pituitary issues and so far I've gotten a different answer from each one. 😯  Seriously, are they just shooting in the dark?  None of them have a clue about the Lyme connection.  Couldn't stand the most recent one who mocked everything I did to get better, and am on deck to try out one more.  This one is an hour and a half from me, but highly recommended by my OBGYN, whom I do like.  The winner will be the first one that comes up with the formula to stop my bone loss and restore some energy.  My respect for endos at this point is right up there with my respect for rheumatologists. :X  I know, I know, there are good ones out there, but where?????

Beaming you positive vibes that your biopsy goes smoothly.

    Take care…….kim

I'll be praying for you, Patti.  My heart goes out to you–I can just feel your stress; wish you didn't have to deal with this–

    Take care,

    Trudi

Lyme/RA; AP 4/2008 off and on to 3/2010; past use of quinolones may be the cause of my current problems, (including wheelchair use); all supplements (which can aggravate the condition) were discontinued on 10/14/2012. Am now treating for the homozygous MTHFR 1298 mutation. Off of all pain meds since Spring '14 (was on them for years--doctor is amazed--me too). Back on pain med 1/2017. Reinfected? Frozen shoulder?

Patti, all the thyroid cystas will be with you in spirit tomorrow, so you won't be alone while you have your next round of biopsies done. Hopefully, once they've drained that biggie, you'll feel a bit more comfortable.

Just think – Merry Ithsmus is right around the corner….okay, maybe don't think about that, as you might have a giggle fit on the table and you need to keep still!!! 😉 But, do think of us and we'll be right there holding your hand, okay?

Please come and tell us how it went, as you'll be in our thoughts!!!

    Peace and hugs, Maz xo

    Hi Patti,

I am also a “Cysta”, although at my visit to the Endocrinologist, she adv that my little nodules were very, very tiny and not to worry, that I really havent thought about it since then… but still, its something that I would rather not have to deal with AT ALL, you know? ( of course you do! )

My thoughts will be with you and I wish you much comfort through the whole procedure, and afterwards, you have FULL PERMISSON to SPOIL YOURSELF ABSOLOUTELY ROTTEN!!

    Connie
