Hi Zoe, and welcome to the Roadback forum. I'm sorry about your diagnosis and that you're just now learning about the Antibiotic Protocol.
I also have SD that I've since learned was triggered by Lyme Disease and wish I'd known to test for Lyme from the beginning. Many people on this board also have the Lyme/SD combination so it is something to consider before starting the protocol because the treatment for Lyme requires a specialist (LLMD) and the protocol is vastly different from AP. There is a thread on “Lyme Testing” that you can search and read how to proceed if you decide to go that route. I noticed you're in New Jersey, a hotbed for Lyme. If you'd like a list of Lyme docs for your area just let us know. If Lyme is at the root of your illness then in treating the Lyme you'll also be treating the SD.
We've had people with late stage SD get their life back and reverse most of their symptoms using this protocol. I'm doing extremely well from my SD, but I caught it before too much damage had taken place. You can read my testimonial from the link in my signature line, as well as others. Some of the SD people on the board are: LynneG, MKbeliever (Michelle who posts for her mother, Kathy), Martysfolks (Dolores), Richie, Randy, Connie, Margaret Muller, Cheryl F (posts for her daughter, Jess), and a number of newbies just starting.
If you haven't read the book, Scleroderma, The Proven Therapy That Can Save Your Life by Henry Scammell, it is recommended to understand the rationale behind the protocol.
Good luck, Zoe, sorting this out.
Take care…..kim
