    Hello Lynne G.SD,
    Thank you for these links. I am in love with minocycline. If I could I would have many people I know taking it. I started mino in mid May and it immediately helped. It was prescribed at 100/2x day. I wanted to do the pulsed dose, so I tried to switch but immediately realized I needed it at least once per day to keep my inflammation down.

    Treating Alzheimer’s with mino is very interesting. I will definitely forward these links.

    Hi Faye;
    If you want more info on mino/doxy I can send you enough to study for a couple of weeks.I also can’t manage without taking my doxy for more than a few days as the SD starts to bother my hands.I got so well that I went back to Uni. for my DVM but stopped just short of it as I was offered a job at our local clinic with flex time and only 5 min. from home.Over the years I found a lot of papers on antibiotics and stored the best.Most involve humans an a few on animals.
    After 21 years on AP I can’t have one living mico left so I know that for me mino only works by inhibiting TGF-1B and Interlukins 1 and 6.

    Hello Lynne G.SD,
    Thank you for your reply. I am so happy you are doing well! It is so reassuring to know there is hope to being in remission for so many years & leading an active and productive life!!! I wish you many beautiful years ahead!!

    Do you take doxy instead of mino?

    Do you have anything in your stored studies regarding platelets and mino?

    Unfortunately, after 1.5 months of feeling great on mino, I decided it was time to get my bloodwork checked. My two irregular markers had increased.( I know this can be normal at the beginning of treatment). But what was alarming to me was my platelet drop from 113 to 93. I was out of the country so I went to see a new rheumatologist. He told me he can’t help with platelets but to absolutely get off mino. He suggested in front of my husband I had nothing since I do not have any other abnormal numbers and of course my visual inflammation was fine since I was on AP. He instead told me to look up Fibromyalgia syndrome. After his speech on the dangers of mino he prescribed Praquenil for my elevated RF and CCP.

    Desperate, I went on Praquenil (I want to add I was taking a supplement(possible hpylori) given to me by my Lyme literate specialist Dr. C. In Chicago. The supplement had mastic, berberine and bismuth citrate. I stopped this at the same time I stopped mino). The Praquenil didn’t do well for me. It gave me the same symptoms that LDN gave me before I stopped it. So I stopped the Praquenil and decided to start the mino again until I got back to the states. I’m home now and my last bloodwork showed another decrease to 84,000. I am waiting for my appointment in mid September.

    Currently my arsenal includes lots of salads, limited meat, gluten/sugar free diet, lots of figs(constipation)/fruit, ginger water, chamomile with saffron honey & 5000 vitamin D. After so much sun while out of the country my D value is only 26. My swelling is manageable, but my joints, muscles, eyes and head hurt especially in the morning.

    I really want to stay on the AP protocol. I just need to figure out how to increase the platelets. I did not give Praquinel and LDN a chance. Maybe that pain was part of the solution. I guess that is what I want to discuss with my doctor.

    Thanks for reading and welcome any comments! Have a great day!

    15 minutes of sun is enough for a normal person.Mind you,we are not normal.I will see what I can find out about platelets.Most doctors know didley squat about mino.Lets see what info other members have.

    I find it funny that doc prescribed Plaq as it can lower platelet count.I take 1 doxy every other day.Got too many blue spots on my face from mino.Maybe you could lower your dose or switch to doxy.Found this info

    Lynne G. SD,

    Thank you so much for your quick reply. I’ve been busy reading what you’ve sent me. I am so not a medical person, but I still find this stuff so fascinating. You have provided some good leads for me. I’ll also ask my doctor about the doxycycline. Thank you. I feel I have sabotaged the thread though. I’m still new at this. Next time I will try to start a new thread. P.S. Is anyone really, “normal”:)
