itching and red blotches

 I just started Minocin a few weeks ago and after one dose I started itching on my chest, upper arms and torso and developed red blotches on my legs and tummy. I called my Dr. he told me to stop taking the minocin.  I has itching for 2 full days afterward.  I'm dissappointed but he assures me we'll figure something out.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I am allergic to Penicillin (same type of reaction) but have taken tetrycycline before for teenage acne.  I do take 250mg of erythromicin daily with no adverse reaction.  I'm holding out hope for a new regimine.
