If chemo drugs work for RA, then why aren't there more studies on which protocols work for which autoimmune disorders?

For example, when my Mom was diagnosed with lymphoma, the doctors knew exactly what remigen to start her on – it was called CHOP-R. The R at the end stood for Rituximab. Before she even started it, the oncology doctors told her she would not have any RA while she was on chemo. A year later, she is starting to see some arthritis symptoms return but she says she can manage them.

Isn't it odd that they don't know what causes cancer and what causes RA, and yet their drug treatments are similar?
