Hi all,
I went to a followup neurology appt today for migraines. I almost canceled the appt thinking it was just going to be a waste of time. To my surprise, the neurology resident did a very impressive, thorough exam. After asking me several questions and reviewing my labs and history, she asked me “Has anyone ever mentioned POEM syndrome to you?” After discussing/reading about this very rare syndrome, it really seemed to explain a lot of signs/symptoms NOT found in scleroderma. For example, after my IV clinda, one of the first things I noticed was that my extremities (and even my back!) were getting more hairy. Also, my menses became irregular, both of which are not usually found in systmeic sclerosis. If anyone out there has POEM, please email me!! Thank you in advance, Annie
