Thanks everyone for your comments. May you all find health & happiness…

Check out his story in the personal progress section. It’s called “My Son’s Story.”
Good luck.

A simple question: Has anyone (on this discussion board or anyone you know) achieved compete remission of RA? …AND have been off “ALL” medications for over a year.
My thought is that antibiotic therapy only works if the patient stays on them (by suppressing the immune system), and once off of these antibiotics… symptoms return.RickK,
EDIT:
I thought it important to add that the information contained in the following links (which I added as a New Topic to the General Discussion board, be included. The reason is that I believe a problem misdiagnosed two years before I became terribly, chronically ill — and given 10-day prescriptions for antibiotics, 15 times over two years, literally wiped out my good flora and caused massive yeast/fungal overgrowth. None of the several physicians/specialists in the Austin area where I lived then ever mentioned the need for taking probiotics. Also, I never saw any overt signs I had a yeast/fungal overgrowth. There are abstracts telling how this is a problem for many patients and can depend on many aspects of the patient himself/herself. When, after 2 years of becoming very chronically ill, a learned new friend shared Dr. William Crook’s book with me (Dr. C was a pediatric allergist who researched and wrote 12 books on this subject trying “to get his babies well”), I began reading and following his suggestions. Dr. Crook died several years ago. I consider now the writings of Doug Kaufmann and other medically-trained people involved in his organization worthy of reading/following. Doug K has several starter books (Phase 1,2, 3) that give good information about how to rotate three different yeast-clearing supplements; plus, good information about diet. I’ve been remiss about not ordering these books (for knowledge sake), but did follow the monthly articles of Dr. LJ while her articles were included. She lived many, many miles from me. Amazingly, I learned she now practices one hour from my home, and I plan to see her for an opinion as to whether my program can be improved in any way. Hope this is helpful. AFThough this has Rosacea in the title (I don’t have Rosacea), it is being included here because of the valuable/informative information contained in it. I just made this subject a New Topic on the Discussion board yesterday, to emphasize how important this subject can be…. and how widespread its consequences. Be sure to pay attention to the DNA references as well, to see how yeast/fungal overgrowth can change our DNA.

Flower, I’ve never had to observe a “lactose-free diet”, but did a search with it in the subject and found this — you might find more on the site… or by doing specially worded searches. Good luck to you. Ask all the questions on your mind. Some of us here may know some answers, or help you find them:

Hi Rick –The meds didnt mess you up -your doctor did !!!!
That is quite possible, even likely. Some doctors use antibiotics very aggressively, and that kind of treatment isn’t appropriate for some patients, especially the sensitive ones like (for example) those with RA or lupus. Also, it seems that the longer a person has been sick the gentler and less aggressive the treatment needs to be in the beginning.
