Back to the ER 3rd time in 6 months stomach still bad & this time full body flushing burning & itching but no sweats coupled with all of my other symptoms (which I will leave some of them out) the 3 doc’s who came to see me all think this could be carcinoid syndrome. I got orders from the ER doc to get 2 specific tests done at my doc’s as soon as possible I’m to call them on Monday. One must be a 24 hr urine test & the other is fasting blood work for at least 12 hrs. I’m in a good amount of pain have been almost daily for 6 months now & doc’s have not been able to figure out why & I have other constant chronic symptoms. I guess I’m scared as much as if this is the case but also if it’s not the case as to what is going on. I just pray the tests are about 75% accurate from some sites I read – that the truth comes thru with this testing whatever it is – it’s not good for this to be continuing. It is possible i was told tonite that the small bowel obstruction I had was caused by tis Carcinoid syndrome. My heart rate also went up after this flushing & I am still short on breath I was wheezing earlier & feel pretty uncomfortable with my stomach & of course sick to my stomach feeling from the pain.

I hope the doc’s office will get me in on Monday to get these tests started & it’s conclusive as to what is really going on been months of this stuff. I had never heard of carcinoid syndrome til today but then I had never heard of Scleroderma 2 yr’s ago. There is always a chance of increased risk for cancer when we have SD I am trying to not think ahead but am anxious to get some answers of course!

    Hi Cavalier,

I’m sorry your going through this- it’s very frightening!

Like you, I’m having some health issues above and beyond my RA crap- at this point I don’t have a diagnosis, but of course my GP started throwing around terms like MS and Optic Neuritis… The entire situation is maddening and it got me good and worked up! I do hope you’ll get a timely appointment with your doctor as soon as possible to get the proper testing you need- and remember, the ER doctor can only speculate what he thinks your problems are- but until you have “proof”, please try to take care of yourself and try not to get overly worked up (easier said than done, I know!) I’ll be thinking about you and sending positive thoughts your way… Please keep us posted!

Jill, you’re very much in my thoughts, too. I think of you often as being one of the most courageous people I have encountered. You never give up and you are always seeking answers and, through your own researches, helping so many others to find answers, as well. Hang in there, Jill. You have friends here who are behind you all the way. Please let us know how you get on with all this. I’m putting it out there for the best of all possible outcomes. Big hugs!!

    Jill,
The below is a list of loose words and phrases I came up with last time I greatly needed to calm down my mind and its overprotective (autoimmune) response to everything. The words are random mental associations, sometimes taken out of a meaningful for me context. Writing something like that down with your own hand and at the same time saying them aloud (if not appropriate, do it within your mind) will greatly add to the calming effect. Do not analyze them. It does not matter if it feels true at the moment or not. By the time I finish, I feel wonderful and the over-fired response is calmed.

    – SOoo relaxed. Relaxation is good for me.
    – happy birds singing after a warm rain
    – peaceful
    – I’m surrounded by loving space
    – I’m permeated with love
    – I’m protected
    – I completely love and totally accept myself
    – harmonious.
    – fulfilled
    – filled up with blessings
    – so happy and complete
    – breathing in joy, breathing out joy
    – blissful
    – vibrant joy and health
    – bubbles of laughter
    – dew on the flower petals
    – deep refreshing sleep
    – I am happy that I am
    – filled with deep peace and contentment
    – holding a sleeping baby in my arms
    – joy singing within my heart
    – filled with love
    – the essence of life
    – silky smoothness
    – wonderful
    – so peaceful
    – refreshing
    – life giving elixir of life
    – pure lovely life force
    – soft and soothing
    – nourishing
    – nurturing
    – I’m nourished and nurtured by all loving space
    – the fountain of youth and health, life itself
    – permeated with love
    – lovingly protected
    – fulfilled to overflowing with the soothing goodness
    – so precious
    – bubbles of bliss and joy
    – radiant
    – resplendent
    – fulfilled
    – loved and cherished
    – appreciated
    – bringing joy and gratitude
    – soft loving eyes
    – utmost beauty permeating everything
    – glorious
    – everything that’s out of harmony is being dissolved into peace and joy
    – all harmony and lively joy
    – such wonderful peace
    – soft light of 100 full autumn moons
    – such lovely feeling of peace
    – happy and complete
    – refreshing
    – glowing life
    etc.
Whatever soothing, peaceful image works for you…. Repetitions are good.

Make your own list. It doesn’t matter what the words are, as long as they fulfill the function. The idea is to prompt the mind to relax with soothing and happy images. If the resultant state of mind is peaceful and happy, distribute this feeling all over your body by focusing on this happy peaceful energy while at the same time focusing on the organ you want permeated with this energy. If the joy lessens, start over and do it again.

If “sending” the energy to organs in need makes the anxiety and all kinds of symptoms resurface, one can do Faster EFT on the issues felt within the body. Dr. Mercola and others are big proponents of EFT. It did not work well for me, but Faster EFT does, even if for moments only.

Jill, if you choose to try Faster EFT, use very, very gentle tapping, more like gentle patting than tapping. You can also put the palm of your hand on your forehead (Donna Eden calls it neurovascular points) and hold it there for a while.
There are many techniques for calming overfired triple warmer meridian (being the oldest meridian within the animals it’s behind fight-and-flight response and is behind all kinds of auto-immune reactions and failing of other systems within the body. When it does not calm down and keeps staying overdrive, it keeps taking the energy from all other systems and everything else gets undernourished and starts failing).
I was not describing it from the infectious point of view, just what happens later, after the whole system gets messed up.
I’m not a specialist on any of those techniques so I would not know if one can employ them at critical situations. I’ve just learned about them from listening to Donna Eden DVDs. I was greatly inspired that with her body shutting down and given a couple of months to live (she was told there’s nothing else the modern medicine can do for her) she conquered organ failure, severe MS and has been radiantly healthy last 30+ years. She is over 70 now and her energy is more youthful and youthfully happy than anybody I have ever seen. She is spilling over with vibrant life and joy!

My whole post here is to offer something that will help with at least calming down while waiting for the tests. I hope it may, to some small degree, help with the health issues, too. Please forgive me there’s so little I can offer.

Love, hugs and all the prayers and blessings I am capable of invoking,
    Krys

To all – I’m speechless & wordless but I feel the power behind all of you coming my way – it is VERY much appreciated. I know each of us has had our trials & tribulations with some big issues to conquer/fight. I am just praying for the truth & answers so I can somehow move thru this by the grace of God.

When I know more I will update.
    thank you for your understanding.

Folks your prayers & good thoughts are so appreciate & so good. My doc looked over the ER info including labs & the ER doc missed that my TSH & T3 were both below the low end. She feels this could have well caused my heart & flushing issues. I have to agree that this at least makes more sense as logically we know that was down rather than the Carcinoid syndrome – which I just happened to match. We still did the tests though because it will then point to just the Thyroid. I had already made a apptmt 4 wk’s ago to see Dr C. my LLMD who also treats my thyroid as i felt I was low as I wanted him to check this. 3 wk’s ago I had blood work that showed my Thyroid was at the lowest number on the range so I felt how I felt was correct. Now I have this result that shows it dipped even more – what’s odd is I also take Lugol’s & DHEA in addition to Armour thyroid of 60 mg’s & 10 MCG of Cytomel but I knew my dosage of thyroid was a low dose. I had been registering in the lower end of normal before this while on this dosage.
I feel the high heart rate & my left diastolic dysfunction AKA Left heart failure is a result of the thyroid being not treated for years as I find a direct link to this something that the Cardios dont seem to be aware of you would think they should be! Today so many only know their speciality though but you still would think anything that impacts the heart they should know but … I go see this doc today so I have to run.

    Best – Jill
