Hi, Does anyone take cortef? I am trying to wean off prednisone (3 mg daily)–am I getting a double whammy with steroids by taking both?

I take cortef (it is a drug that is bioidentical to what our bodies make…cortisol). My dose is 10mg in morning, 5mg afternoon and 5mg in the evening to follow the natural production of the body (from what I understand anything over 20mg a day is more than the body would make). I take it due to weak adrenals and the dose is considered physiological versus pharmacological.
You should ask your doc if taking both prednisone and cortef would give you a double whammy…maybe since you are weaning off the prednisone your body will need help making cortisol?
