Indirectly this article does mention Scleroderma as Fibroitic disease is the class Scleroderma is in & Cancer is also mentioned too – Out of the several active constituents found in Chang shan (Dichroa febrifuga), Febrifugien, has been used for treating malaria-induced fever for about 2,000years [18], the other one, Halofuginone, the halogenated derivative of febrifugine, has been tested in clinical trials for potential therapeutic applications in cancer and fibrotic disease [18].
This article in this link above mentions Zithromax, Doxy & Clindy along with this herb & others, for what they share in common in actions. So i felt it has some relevance.
If there is a fungal aspect to Scleroderma as some articles suggest, it is interesting to me some of the herbs that have been found to be helpful against Scleroderma are also antifungal & is it possible that the actions of the above AP have some action as well in this area? I have to still look deeper into that. Other herbs can help to downregulate the immune system.

Hi Jill–
I did a search and found:
The auto-immune diseases appearing to have a fungal/mycotoxin origin are: scleroderma, diabetes mellitus, HLA-related disease, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren
Lyme/RA; AP 4/2008 off and on to 3/2010; past use of quinolones may be the cause of my current problems, (including wheelchair use); all supplements (which can aggravate the condition) were discontinued on 10/14/2012. Am now treating for the homozygous MTHFR 1298 mutation. Off of all pain meds since Spring '14 (was on them for years--doctor is amazed--me too). Back on pain med 1/2017. Reinfected? Frozen shoulder?
March 5, 2013 at 9:40 pm #361686cavalierParticipantHey Trudi I have found many of those articles I posted sev’l links today for Woods in her thread something to do with Dizziness cant remember the exact name. There is a direct correlation between fungus & Scleroderma & RA etc – as those links show what I was refering to here is if these ABX’s mentioned in some round about fashion work on fungus’s I am not sure if they do or just help modulate / antiinflammatory which is also important.
I am on a anti fungal as of yesterday Diflucan compliments of Dr S. in IA. I am to be on this for a few months & I take a homeopathic remedy for Candida that has Borax in it already plus I take boron so I am not sure if I should add in more to the mix, plus walnut & garlic for candida, but it’s def. a player in being antifungal & for me this fungus is def. a player for my SD to address. I think I have a pretty stout case of it.
Thanks – Jill SD, Lyme CPn, babesia & Candida.

Fungus is also called mold or Candida or yeast, they are all in the same class. Many Lyme patients have some level of mold according to Dr K. a LLMD & so do many who have a Rheumatic disease or those who have both.
It’s important to determine if this is the case & treat it if are going to get better otherwise it will hinder your progress is what Dr K. feels. I also feel it is important.Candida many of it’s symptoms cross over to Lyme & the 2 can be found together sometimes.

Family Doctor – speaks out on Candida – It all jives for me. http://thesilverclouddiet.com/2010/09/d … ight-loss/
This doc understands Candida – the list of issues is surprisingly long, Autoimmune is only one of them but many others. U may want to be aware of.

Hi Jill–
I totally agree. It also looks like you have your bases covered. Looking forward to your future post confirming how all this is making you well!!
Take care,

March 5, 2013 at 11:48 pm #361689cavalierParticipantI’m trying Trudi 😀 this is why I am trying to cover Candida from more than one modality, as I feel this has caused problems for me in making progress as much as i could but it also is hard to fathom how complex this is – it’s not just one disease or issue often for us it would be so much easier if it were!
Unfortunately Candida is not recognized by many doc’s just like Lyme, Dr K. says Candida is even worse in being recognized- that is pretty bad as we know that Lyme is often overlooked as much press as both have had but I guess we have become a society where medicine largely treats symptoms more than to get at root causes. If one gets help they may not need so many med’s or increases in adding in new meds.

February 2, 2014 at 6:54 pm #361690AnonymousParticipantYou will find Chang Shan on Amazon. You can find it using Chang Shan as the search term on Amazon. It is also called “Radix Dichroae”. They sell a powdered form. I started using it 3 weeks ago for MS and fibromyalgia. I have no benefits to report yet, but it is still early. It is from the 999 group–that is what it says on the container. It also states that it is 5:1. It tells you that the serving size is one gram and it comes with a small plastic spoon, which when full equals one serving or 1 gram. The directions say to take one gram (one serving or one of the plastic spoons full) one to three times a day. I hope this is helpful.
