A group summary on the much discussed topic “generic vs brand minocin”:

So it's Steifel brand in Canada via mailorder, Triax brand in US . Reliable generic brands Watson or Teva are reported effective.

Pelletized in sustained release is preferable but powdered generic is only 15% less effective while dumping at one time into intestines.
Coatings may cause allergies. Generics are now FDA standardized with few
problems as occured before FDA changes.

My Rambaxy generic brand is stamped RX 696/blue & white capsules

Caroline,  I do use the Steifel brand name from Canada now, because my insurance company had upped the co-pay here to $600.  Thank god for this website because I would never had known about being able to get it from Canada.  The Rambaxy, which is from India, did not work for me.    Rose
