    Hi All,

I have finally got my book and finished it (fantastic):).  I am now waiting for my AP appointment.  My question is that I already had an appointment scheduled with a new rheumatologist since last year before deciding to try AP, should I keep my rheumy appoint.  He will no doubt love the idea of me going on AP  and be even more pleased to find out that I got the info from the internet!!!!!!  Please let me know what you think.

    Thanks

    Lizbeth,

The best advice I can give you is to do what you are comfortable with. If you're prepared mentally to deal with possible rejection of your treatment path, and you have a medical need to see him/her, then do so. If you feel uncomfortable or apprehensive about going, then don't. The ultimate decision is up to you. Whatever you decide, I wish you the best.

Lizbeth – I agree with Maria that only you can make this decision. Seeing the rheumie may help in you in making a decision for yourself regarding the treatment path you choose. However, if you are going to keep the appointment with the view to him supporting an already-made AP decision, then it may be a waste of time. Most rheumies in Oz dont even know that mino is at least listed by the American College of Rheumatology as a DMARD, even if infectious theory is not subscribed to. He may well not have even heard of AP (the book covers the subject of rheumatologists pretty well). It may be interesting to listen to what he has to say, so you can look at all sides to this. What do you think will serve you best? Your call. Lynnie

    Hi Lizbeth,

Glad to hear you are taking it all in .. I know with the costs of specialists it is sometimes difficult to make that decision .. I only know that it was because of my consults with rheumies & my AP doctor that I was able to make the decision to try AP; to my mind it was well worth the money going to see yet another rheumy before I finally made up my mind which way to go.  I am a firm believer in researching all possible treatment paths & talking to doctors & specialists along the way so I have a clear understanding of what is in store & what all my options are both short & long term.

As everyone here will tell you 'it's your call'!!

    Good luck
