Don’t you just love what Barthold is saying, now that he is about to retire he is happy to speak up, although treated as a pariah by some of his colleagues

This hearing is incredibly important for all who have chronic Lyme, those who suspect they may have it and have received inappropriate diagnosis and care, and for anyone yet to enter “the fray,” in order to understand the very essence of the current standing of Lyme politics and why it has become necessary for US politicians to enter into the discussion.
I personally believe that it will be via the institution of legal interventions that must ultimately force the hand of the IDSA to acknowledge the gaps in understanding of Lyme disease in order to ensure adequate govt funding for research that is absolutely necessary in the areas of diagnostics and treatment to assist those suffering from this crippling disease. As one of the world’s top LLMDs said at the court-ordered IDSA public panel hearings, “The book on Lyme is not closed.” And this message is echoed by the witnesses in this Congressional Hearing.
Joanne, as you mentioned, all the witnesses were well-prepared and powerful speakers, only made more potent by the glaring absence of the IDSA and CDC witnesses who received invites, but claimed an inability to attend this very significant hearing.
Let’s hope the world is listening in and takes note and let’s also hope this hearing is the beginning of US govt actions that will re-shape the face of the current stalemate and suffering of chronic Lyme patients as a result.
When listening to this hearing, be sure not to miss both the first and second parts at the following direct links:
