On Dr. oz today….”Is it the Flu or Parasite?” I watched the clip and one of the parasites he’ll be talking about is babesiosis.

I caught this episode last week when I was home sick- it was very interesting! Again, I don’t take everything Dr. Oz says and “run with it”, but I sure do appreciate his “look outside the box” and forward thinking approach to medicine!

Yes, I’m with you…I like how Dr. Oz brings controversial topics to the table and looks at more natural treatments for common ailments.
Babesiosis, a protozoan piroplasm, is one of the most common tick-borne coinfections of Lyme now, found in various strains so may not be picked up if only testing for one strain. It’s infecting the blood supply, which is a real concern, especially because those receiving transfusions are usually in pretty bad shape to start with. In combo with Lyme, it really takes out a person’s immune system and can cause of manner of symptoms and is also now known to be passed from mother to child in the womb. Worth watching that second video clip here:
