Trudi, have you ever been tested for the HLA B27 gene for Ankylosing Spondylitis? Don't want to add more grist to your mill while you're suffering, but just wondering. With your hips, knees and ankles giving you most trouble and your history of klebsiella pneumoniae, a potential connection here just struck me.

    Hi Maz–

I've thought of that, too.  I haven't had a problem with my spine (gosh the thought of adding spine pain just gives me shudders) so I really didn't think of it seriously.  I will ask Dr. M about testing for the gene though.

You are a prime example of the damage than can happen when it takes years for a proper Lyme diagnosis.

Boy, Kim, are you right on that one!!

Maria–yes, I am seeing Dr. M, Dr. B, and Dr. DM.

Thanks all for your encouragement.  Funny, I didn't get notice for these last posts–although I did get notice of emails–is there a scratching head emoticon–wonder what's going on :)?

    Take care,

    Trudi

Lyme/RA; AP 4/2008 off and on to 3/2010; past use of quinolones may be the cause of my current problems, (including wheelchair use); all supplements (which can aggravate the condition) were discontinued on 10/14/2012. Am now treating for the homozygous MTHFR 1298 mutation. Off of all pain meds since Spring '14 (was on them for years--doctor is amazed--me too). Back on pain med 1/2017. Reinfected? Frozen shoulder?

    Trudi,

I have AS that is why my lower part of my spine is fused and I look like the leaning tower of Pisa, but the pain is gone since I have been taking Biaxin.

    Suzanne,

Pampers just had a recall of their diapers.  Some new chemical they were using caused severe diaper rash.  Man, I didn't even know they used chemicals in the diapers.  Poor babies.  Their skin is absorbing these chemicals and who knows what the chemicals are doing to their fragile organs.

This happened to my daughter at least six years ago, but I will check out what they have just recalled.

At the time, they told they had added more baby powder or powder scent or something like that to them.  It seemed like if it was the diapers, it was something on the outside, since the rash was not anywhere the diaper covered.  It spread away from the diaper.  But she would play with one sometimes while I changed her, and the rash eventually was on her forehead, where it would touch her as she held it up over her face.

Disposable diapers have (or had when we still used them) something in them that turns to gel when the diaper gets wet.  That is why they don't leak.  No telling what it is made of.

Maz – Thanks for the video, but that wasn't the rash.  I wish I had taken pictures, but at that point I had no idea were in for this long journey.
