Seems, male and female gut bacteria are different. Basically, when male gut bacteria is implanted in the female, her testosterone goes up (but not to that of men) and chances of autoimmunity can go way down. They are speculating that it may even be used to treat AI diseases that are already in progress

There are many articles along this line, just google it.

    Very interesting.

    Thanks for sharing this JohnnyMax.

I’m currently reading the book An Epidemic of Absence: A New Way of Understanding Allergies and Autoimmune Diseases by Moises Velasquez-Manoff, a science writer who is afflicted with autoimmune diseases, copyright 2012. He pulls together decades of research about the role of various pathogens in the prevention of autoimmune diseases as well as in causing autoimmune diseases. Basically, it boils down to the timing of exposure to various pathogens. Early exposure (in the womb) usually results in less disease but later exposure to the same pathogens results in allergy, asthma and or autoimmune diseases. I highly recommend this book. It’s fascinating reading.
