Does anyone use doxycycline monohydrate, specifically for SD? Don’t know why this was prescribed instead of the hyclate but just wonder if it’s as effective. On doxy instead of mino because of reduced risk of hyperpigmentation.

    Hi,

The main difference between them is that doxycycline monohydrate is less likely to cause stomach upset than doxycycline hyclate.

Hi The drug of choice specifically for scleroderma is minocycline or the branded product minocin –Personally I would question the doctor why doxy instead of minocycline —If hyperpigmentation becomes a problem then some folks switch —
