I stayed away from Rheumies. I had an appointment with one but was late because of a traffic stop, so I didn't get to see her. What impressed me about the office was all the sick and miserable looking people waiting to be seen. I never went back. I looked for and found the type of people I wanted to help get me well.  Good luck.

Thanks for your feedback everyone.  I wouldn't even mind a skeptical doctor, but I just can't stand the ones who get offended when I try to share something I've read or ask for any atypical medical advice.  How dare I challenge anything they say, since they went thru all the schooling etc.  You also never know which docs get kickbacks from drug companies, so I take what they say with huge grains of salt

To the person who asked what a Rheumy does, my old one was very hands off.  I'd see him 3-4 times a year, he'd glance at my hands, see how i'm feeling and monitor my blood work.  I didn't sense a need to actually see a specialist for that level of care, but since my Rheumy would prescribe mino, why not?  Now I may have to go a different route.  I'm interested in finding a holistic doctor or at least someone who is a proponent of complementary therapy.  Just the fact that none of the Rheumys I've seen here suggested ginger, turmeric or green tea as natural anti-inflammatories astounds me.  Sigh!

    Thanks again!

Where are you located Serenity? Others on the Board may be able to suggest integrative, holistic docs they've found good in your area. And of course, Maz can PM you names of AP docs. Lynnie

That was me that asked.. I figured that is really all they did.. I really don't see the point of going to one?

As far as ginger and tumeric.. Do you take them as supplements or what? Green tea as in you just put a packet in hot water and drink it each day?

    Thanks! 😀
