    Hi,
As a former OldTimer, having stopped Mino for 2 yrs, I find myself a Newcomer again, because some things have changed.
With my question the other day about Tablet vs. Capsule for Minocycline, and both having very different prices here at CVS, etc., I called Buylowdrugs today and found to my surprise that they don’t sell Minocin anymore, only Minocycline and only capsules at $87/100 caps.
Here, at CVS i.e., capsules are $52.13/60 and tablets $145.31/60, both with a coupon. But here, I can only get Tablets.

Since, up til now, I have nothing to beat my new/familiar “enemy” with , only Ibuprofen, I HAVE to get the caps from BuyL.

I also have a cataract surgery coming up in August and NEED to get the inflammation that is all-over in me somewhat under “control”.

My question is: where does everybody get their Minocin from? And is there now maybe a better Pharm. than BuyL.?

Maz, I still have your post from 7/23/08, where you talk about the import of drugs and FDA and the irony of it all.
Is it possible that BuyL had too many problems?
I, personally, had no more problems with my Post Office with the last 3 shipments of Minocin, only in the beginning in 2006.
What has changed? Is Stiefel still producing it?

I am kind of desperate for someone’s reply,
    BarbK

    Hi Barb,

Stiefel Pharmaceutical, up in Canada, that produced the original pelleted brand Minocin was sold a year or so ago to GSK and they have, unfortunately, stopped producing it.

I guess you must have missed the flurry of panicked posts here when all this went down. It’s such a great shame for those who couldn’t afford the (then) Triax brand Minocin here in the US (now sold thru Onset Dermatologics).

I don’t know if the following will help or not, Barb, as I no longer can use Mino, myself, but at the following link there is a coupon for the US brand Minocin here – just click on the “Instant Rebate Coupon,” but you will need to read small print to ensure you qualify.

I think many up in Canada, or buying thru Canadian online pharmacies, are now using the brand name Aknemin, which is being imported to Canada from Europe:

Otherwise, if folks can’t get the brand Minocin covered by their insurance carrier here in the US (some folks manage to get it approved if they suffer reflux), then a good many are finding they can use the Wyeth or Teva generic minocycline just fine. Some folks are also using Ranbaxy (India), but there has been some issues with quality control and the FDA shutting down imports from India. Need to check where these imported generics are made, because although a company may be located abroad, they may be actually manufacturing in the US and under the watchful “manufacturing practices” eye of the FDA.

There is a fellow, Harold, who has compiled a site with different brands and feedback of those using them, as well as various online Canadian pharmacies that folks have used for their supplies. So, this resource may be helpful to you, too, though I am unable to account for how current the info may be. Harold doesn’t frequent here, but if he sees this, perhaps he would be so kind to share, if so?

Barb, do you just prefer using the original pelleted brand Minocin or would a good quality generic do? Or is there some other reason why you are unable to use a generic? Frustrating, I know!

You do NOT have buy your capsules from BuyLowDrugs.

There are so many sites on the internet that sell drugs now, comparison shopping is so easy! Most are Canadian pharmacies that source from India, since due to very low wages in that area, prices are extremely low on drugs.
