    Hey everyone.

So I saw Dr. C, who clinically diagnosed me with Lymes. I suppose at this point I take the regular antibiotic (doxycycline) I was taking before, but increase dosage and add in the other antibiotic (clarithromycin), and if I get worse, I’ll have my confirmation. (I can already feel the muscle aches starting, and I haven’t even started the clarithromycin yet.

Is there anything anyone can suggest for me? Please please PLEEeeease tell me there’s another way to detox other than coffee enemas. Haha.

Ha ha ha. I’m in a mad rush so can’t write much. If you search detox, you’ll find a lot, though it will mean “leafing” through a lot of posts, as the word “detox” is mentioned a lot without giving the specifics. Check foot soaks, too, that one is easy to do! Check detoxification mudras, massage (you can massage acupressure points yourself), yawning (detoxifies the brain)…..

I think this list is very comprehensive: http://betterhealthguy.com/joomla/topics/detoxification He missed only mudras, acupressure points, essential oils dabbed on acupressure points, herbal teas (or encapsulated herbs which you can also encapsulate yourself: very empowering feeling!!!).
Maz started a thread in which she’s listed lots of fabulous things. All tried and effective!
Vit.C (check the tread by A Friend) is fabulous for that purpose, too!!! It’s cheap to buy in powdered form, you add a bit of magnesium powder, 1/3 tsp of baking soda, some juice for the taste –and voila!!!
Coffee enema IS quite fabulous! At least, the toxic brain and toxic body feels fabulous afterwards. If not yet, repeat again the next day!

You can help yourself with your mind, too. Just as the body affects the mind, the reverse is true, too. If you can visualize yourself lying on the beach and listening to the waves, totally relaxed and warmed up, and if you can hold the feeling of total relaxation within your mind, it will have a fabulous effect, too. Or visualizing and holding the image of bursting with joy or dissolving in gratitude…..Imagine yourself laughing with the whole body…feel the laughter bubbling up in all the cells…Same with love. Remember any moment from the past when you felt completely loved, bring the feeling into your heart until it swells with love, bask in it, then send it to the areas within your body that need it….Those feelings are very healing and help balance everything within the body.

I read once a great introduction to something (some type of healing) sold on that website. The introduction was so good, I did not need to buy the product. It was taken off soon. The description was more or less like that:
“If you knew that an absolutely great miracle happened and your wish came true…and you woke up knowing that it is already done for a fact, how would you know within you that the miracle has already taken place? How would you feel? How would you feel within your body, (you can get more specific: within your joints, organs,….By focusing on specific areas you are bringing in good relaxed energy to those areas and helping them heal)” The key here is not going through a verbal wish list, but feeling this all encompassing joy that bursts within your body (or whatever wonder you can feel) and bask in this feeling and hold it within as long as you can. Wordlessly. Just feeling it. It is immensely healing. And then recreate it lots of times throughout the day. Very relaxing, very enjoyable, very healing!!!
I don’t know how much it relates to detoxification, but it is bound to help with that, too.
    Warm wishes, Krys

Here is Maz’s awesome detox list
    :Detox ideas!

    1. Glutathione IV push

    2. IV Myer’s Cocktail (high dose nutrients)

    3. Undenatured whey protein (to boost glutathione levels) – products such as Immunocal, ImmunoPro or Warrior’s Whey…important to ensure whey is harvested from “organic” grass-fed cattle with no additives.

    4. Far Infrared Saunas (aka FIR saunas)

    5. Epsom/peroxide baths

    6. NAC (N-acetylcysteine) capsules to reduce fibrosis and, as NAC is a precursor to glutathione, will also help with detox.

    7. ALA (Alpha lipoic acid) – anti-oxidative capsules

    8. Systemic enzymes (taken on empty stomach) such as serrapetase or nattokinase. I’ve used Neprinol, which is quite expensive, but it is promoted for RA as a fibrinolytic/proteolytic supp to reduce inflam and fibrosis.

    9. Krill Oil gel caps (said to be more bio-identical than fish oil)

    10. Astaxathin gel caps

    11. Coffee enemas (first used by Dr. Gerson to reduce pain in cancer patients…coffee is absorbed by hepatic portal vein and is thought to promote glutathione).

    12. Liver/Gall bladder flushing (not for anyone with kidney issues due to magnesium content in epsoms) and lemon/olive oil detox drink (which acts as a slow liver flush when used daily).

    13. Colonics – I haven’t tried these, but some AP docs are using these in a series to clear toxic waste from the gut…need to be careful to replace good bacteria after these (some colonic hydrotherapists will do a probiotic flush into the gut after the colonic).

    14. Lots of good old fashioned pure water.

    15. Ensuring never to get constipated. If I do, I use Oxypowder capsules (ozonated magnesium)

    16. Good, clean fresh diet of lots of fruit and veggies, being careful to watch for food offenders, such as gluten and dairy, which seem to be the most common ones.

    17. I’ve also started using a supplement, called Slippery Elm, which is purported to help heal the gut lining, as leaky gut can be a problem for many rheumatics.

Here is a link to an AP doc in NYC who specialises in Leaky Gut with suggestions on how to heal and protect the gut.

    http://mdheal.org/leakygut.htm

As with everything we do as rheumatics, the low and slow approach works best, and I wouldn’t try to do more than one thing re: detoxing at once so that I could determine what was helping and what wasn’t. So, a nice, slow, measured approach in consultation with a treating physician is the optimal way to go when trying something new of this ilk.
    Peace, Maz

Try the lemon drink–not expensive. 1/2 lemon–peel and all, 1 cup water and 1 tbsp olive oil thrown in blender. Strain if nec. Clean teeth after as can be hard on enamel. Use organic lemons if you can–usually 2.99 for a bag of ten at Fairway.
I have a costco size epsom salts and h2o2 if you want to try the baths or foot soaks–will share at the next tea time. Off to see Dr. C tomorrow with my girl. Wish us luck!
    kate

Systemic Scleroderma since 2010. Lyme and Myco P. AP and many other antibiotics and treatments since Nov. 2011. Presently mostly in remission other than fatigue.
Teva Minocycline 100mg a day. Dessicated tyroid, LDN 4.5, LDI, hawthorne, curcurmin, berberine,, caprylex, reishi mushroom, liver protect, zinc,, fish oils, magnesium, vit K2, d3, bcomp, E, C

Thanks Krys and Kate. Very much appreciated! I knew of Maz’s detoxing post, but didn’t do a search as it’s kind of a pain on my cell phone haha.

    I will try some.

After starting a daily dose of my Doxy again, my chest started to get some aches and pains, and I can tell I’m flaring a bit too. So something’s been stirred up, for sure. I just started the Clarithromycin today, we’ll see what happens there. (I read that there are some people who had cardiac events being on this medication. I’m just hoping that won’t happen :P)..

    I’m always a worryer huh?

    Hi Mat,

You’re doing exactly what I wouldn’t do. In my opinion, the best way to “detox” is to minimize the need for it in the first place. That means being patient and not trying to rush the recovery process. Of course, it’s not your fault since you didn’t know any better, and your doctor apparently doesn’t know any better either. Although it’s possible that you will have no trouble handling the sudden jump in your doxy dose plus the addition of a second antibiotic, I wouldn’t bet on it.

If I were in your shoes, I would have increased my dose of doxy from 100 mg MWF to 100 mg daily. That would be the first step. After one month (minimum), depending on how I am feeling, I would consider adding the clarithromycin. Increasing my dose of doxy to 100 mg BID would come later, but the increase in the dose would be gradual and not a sudden jump.

    Phil,

It’s good to know that, I will see how I tolerate this. I’ve always done MWF BID, but I tolerated 7-days BID well back in January. (That’s a lie, I had major GI issues but wasn’t on probiotics)

If it turns out the clarithromycin is upsetting me and I can’t function, I’ll cut it out and stay on doxy BID until I tolerate it. I’ll talk to my doctor. But again so far no ill effects except some depression, but that’s because I was alone on Saturday night 😛 heh. Thanks!

Well, Mat, I’m glad you were clinically diagnosed. That can help when you need scrips etc.

I think the visual imagery described is really helpful – if you can take the time to not rush. I believe the mind-body connection is often stronger than we think.

Wonderful to have all Maz’ detox list on one place. She is an amazing resource!

Following your progress from time to time and wishing you well.
