Saw Dr. F today. What an amazing doc. I’m always so impressed.

He suggests I go on abx to treat my Hashimoto’s thyroiditis. Still no sign of Scl at this time although I do have telangiectasia but he says many people have them. He listened carefully to my lungs, which are clear and checked my spirometry report from the pulmonologist. My bloodwork shows other organs – e.g. kidneys, liver – still ok. Apparently in addition to the IRBBB I have a heart murmur. He said it wasn’t anything to worry about at this time. The arrythmia really makes me think Lyme/babesia though.

I’m reticent to take anything (abx) that will affect the gut flora that I’ve worked so hard to rebuild so we compromised on the following plan – I will take Vitamin D3 5000iu daily for the next three months, we will check my TPO antibodies again, and if they are falling we will continue with Vitamin D3 and my other regimen for another three month cycle. If antibodies do not fall or continue to rise, I will agree to go on long term abx to combat the mycoplasma which he feels is implicated in my Hashimoto’s. So, I guess I have a timeline now of when my own antibiotic treatment will start. He’s also checking my C3 and C4 along with a few other things to see how my immune system is functioning right now.

He did say that while he didn’t know if LDN was necessary in my case that in his opinion it is very safe and would not hurt me at all if I choose to keep taking it.

So, the clock is ticking and we’ll see how the D3 does for me this time around. Last time I took it consistently my TPO antibodies (normal range 0 – 34) dropped from 880 to 486 to 88 to 34 to 15 over the course of a year and then stayed there for another year (until pregnancy threw me for a major loop and I was obliged to stop taking the D3 because it crosses the placenta). My D3 is super low right now (39) so supplementation just may do the trick 🙂

I wish everyone could be so lucky to have a rheumatologist as thoughtful and thorough as Dr. F. I feel so blessed. Thank you so much C.F. for giving me his information, I am forever in your debt!
