The way to know if she has CREST antibodies is if her ANA test shows positive for “anti-centromere.” There will be a ratio that could be 1:40, 1:80, 1:160, 1:320, etc. Mine when untreated is 1:1280.
Does she have symptoms from the pulmonary hypertension? Mine was asymptomatic but my numbers were in the high 40s and my doctor was getting quite concerned. On Brand Minocin, my pressures as well as my ANA went back to normal. I can’t say AP will definitely work for your mom but if she is able to get her hands on some Brand Mino I would say definitely give it a try.
I haven’t had my pulmonary pressures tested since I went off the brand. But I’m sure they are pretty high. I’m trying to normalize everything before I start showing symptoms. If the azithromycin doesn’t work, clindamycin is next on my list.
