Thanks Lynne for your reply, I actually have been doing Zith for quite a while but the new Rheumy wanted me to up my Mtx and take Plaquenil as well. I thought I would try Doxy instead! But been having a big flare for the last couple of weeks and to be quite honest not sure what to do. I also have started baking soda daily after all the hipe 🙄 maybe that’s the problem, I should have started one thing at a time! I think a dose of steroids will help!

Hi all, I have been taking 50mgs am and pm of Doxy NWF for 6 weeks plus 250 mgs arthromycin MWF and have been having a mega flare in places I have never felt pain. Should I increase the Doxy or stop! Any suggestions would be great!

PhilC, thank you for that link as I have been using Azithromycin for a while with Plaquenil, would you believe I haven’t been feeling very well since starting Plaquenil and decided to stop taking it this morning as my eyes were blurring as well. After reading the link you posted am so glad on my decision, wondering why the Rheumy, Dr, pharmacist didn’t tell me 😡

Airen you are doing well thanks for update on your supps as well and so good you have no pain at all 😀

aboyer, my doctor would only let me take Zith because it helps with my bronciectasis, not for my RA, but I do feel it helps with my pain levels. My Rheumy has a closed mind to AP protocol, so I don’t tell him, I do however want to go back on to either mino or doxy if I can find an obliging dr.

No side effects at all with the Zith, although I am only taking 125mgs and the only side effect doxy has is dizziness even if I take with food, but a small price to pay ?
I take heaps of supps, thisylin, turmeric, vit B, NAC, krill oil, magnesium, multi vit, oregano oil, vit c, no gluten, dairy, minimum sugar ? All help I think and exercise.
Hope the Zith goes well for you ?

Hi Aboyer, I am not really sure yet, I was flaring so bad the doctor put me on steroids and have started to wean with a week to go. I have upped my doxy to 100mgs with the Zith 125mgs and feel really well with minimal pain. I think my chest feels a lot better with the Zith but not really sure if it’s the steroids or not, I will know more when I am off the steroids completely and will let u guys know.
    What dose r u on?…..Annie

Phil, I have been on that site a few times but had not seen those combos, thank you for that link and after thinking about it most of the night I have decided to use the two, but as lynnie said, slowly does it. I will also take that info to my doctor to try and convince her……Annie

Lynnie, I will take it slow and won’t change my Zith dosage until my pain settles down, Goodness I haven’t had wrists and foot pain for sooooooo long, now just to convince the doctor! It’s good that u r doing so well on this combo, I can still remember your having a bad time a while back…..Annie

Linda, I was away with my grand kids who do motor cross and got sick coming home, I was sick for a couple of weeks and then the pneumonia started. The doctor said it was a virus and they didn’t know why the pneumonia started first in one lung then the other, I have broncheictasis anyway so I am careful about getting a chill. Also I cannot have the pneumonia vaccination as I already have had 2, then I developed a pain in the middle of my left chest which was thought to be a heart attack, of course I knew it wasn’t, they still don’t know, but I put it down to RA, but boy did the whole sickness scare me. I am feeling ok now just this pain in my left foot and wrists.
    Thanks for asking…….Annie

P.s. I will let u guys know how the combo goes

Thanks Phil for that, not sure now what to do, whether I should add Doxy with the Zith or just wait to see if changing has caused a herx, decisions

    Hi Lynnie,

I did think about the Zith causing a herx, but now u have said the same thing, I am starting to think again, what I am not sure about is that will the Zith do the same as the doxy/mino. Because both the doctor and myself are just feeling our way through this and she is not that up on me taking abx for my RA. Getting Pneumonia and being so sick for weeks really scared me and I think I got the idea of changing my abx from the RB forum, your signature line included and when I looked up Zith on the internet, the tests showed positive results for people with lung diseases.
I am guessing I should get out my Athritis Breakthrough .

    Thanks Lynnie for the advice……Annie
