    Hi,
I take 3mg of LDN every other night since August 2013. I had to switch to every other night because I was feeling drugged out each morning. I was also experiencing a fullness feeling in my head and had a few headaches on and off so Dr. K in Lufkin told me to take it every other night. This dose and every other night seems to help me. Each person and dosage is different. Some may be more sensitive to a higher dose and may have to start at a less dose. It did help me to sleep well. I would usually wake up once during the night and then go back to sleep. I’ve read where while taking LDN a person usually has two sleep cycles with waking up in between. The best time to take LDN is a couple of hours before bedtime. One should get a full nights sleep to feel benefits. Best of luck finding the right dosage etc. I feel that it has benefits for pain, helping one sleep and also neuropathy issues. I have slight neuropathy in my legs due to Diabetes 2 and inflammation.

Thanks. Yes, I started taking magnesium of 250mg (2) daily this week. Also started Alpha Lipoic Acid of 200mg (3) Daily., Zinc 50 mg (1) Daily along with starting this week, Biaxin 500mg (2) daily, Flagyl (1) daily and LDN 3m Comp at bedtime. Today I feel so bad and tonight I think I’d cry if it wouldn’t make me feel any worse. Don’t know if this is a big time herx to what is going on??? My stomach is sick tonight and I have muscle cramps and an ill feeling. Could it be something of these or a combination that is making me sick? I’m to the point that I thinking about asking Dr. K to please put me back on the Doxy. Even my gallbladder is bothering me and I’m trying to watch my sugar also and stay off of Metformin eating just 6 small healthy meals a day. Would appreciate any words of wisdom. I feel like I’m taking to much antibiotics. I’ve this episode of when I lay down at night, feels like muscle spasms in my throat. One doctor had me to do all kind of heart tests. All were good. Talked with Dr. K and she just said that magnesium would help with spasms.Has anyone else had problems when they lay down at night? I’m also try to take probiotics at each meal. God please help me ;(

The above information is much appreciated. I remember getting flea bitten on my stomach one summer before I got sick and I also had a severe kidney infection caused by ecoli. I’m thinking if I so find a good RA Sr., still searching, that this would be good to bring up for discussion.

Well, now I’m really confused! I’ve been reading on webmd about plaquenil possibly causing myositis in users. This is what my new RA Dr. wants me to take for PM and to go off of my antibiotics, which I refuse to do. I only take doxy once a day and am thinking I might just take it twice daily to see what happens.

PM-Last four years * Doxycycline of 100 mg once daily
Diabetic 2-Metformin 100 mg of twice daily
    D-3 10,000 I.U. Daily
    B-12 5,000 Daily
    Probiotics

I’ve been reading about cinnamon controlling blood sugar levels in diabetics. Can one also use cinnamon while on antibiotic therapy? I’ve had one doctor, Dr. K to tell me that it could interfer with AP therapy. Is there any other diabetic 2’s on the roadback that are also doing AP Therapy?

cavalier: You mentioned a Dr. Chi. Is that a doctor in Little Rock, AR? I know of a Dr. Chi at Ortho Ark. all: I had a severe kidney infection about 4-5 years ago caused by E-coli and I also was flea bitten several times on my stomach that same summer. Could this have caused my immune system to fail and me to get PM and Osteoarthritis? Would could have resulted from these two events happening? Everyday doctors all want me on prednisone. I want to get better.

I’m also a diabetic 2 and have never taken steriods and don’t want to and am looking for other alternatives that might help me to get my CPK’s lower or for me to go into remission. Everyone tells me that you can’t go into remission with PM or DM.

Some of the reasons why I’ve been switched from mino to doxy…..Dr. K was still concerned that my CPK levels have not dropped any lower in about a year. Still standing at 1,300 also I’ve lots of inflammation and fluid in the calves of my inside legs. Thinking that she wants to hit the PM harder and also the diabetes 2. I’m having problems with my liver and also my gallbladder. Will probably have to have my gallbladder out soon. Dr. K doesn’t recommend my trying to do a flush. I’m afraid that I might get a stone lodged. The stones are large. I’m to the point where I can’t eat anything.

It’s so nice being able to email Dr. K in Lufkin and ask questions. She told me to start slowly and take the Doxy every other day till I can work my way up. I’m also taking a generic antibiotic of Flagyl on M, W, F to help with fatty liver. I’m hoping for better days. Just a slight headache this morning. I took a Doxy before I got Dr. K’s email. My last D-3 level was 29 and last week it is 20. Something is going on. Dr. K said that I need good D-3 levels/higher if my body is going to reverse the diabetes. I also had a negative result on the Lupas test. Wondering what could be going on with that. Seems like I’m collecting autoimmune diseases. I feel that if I would have listened and taken preds years ago I might be in worse shape today. At least my body is trying to fight it all.

PM: Doxy 100mg every other day till
Diabetes 2: Working on a good diet No Metformin at present
    Osteoarthritis
    B-12
    Zinc
    D-3 20,000 IU Daily
    Probiotics
    Niacin 500 mg 2X Daily

I’ve been reading comments about Plaquenil on a drug info site and see a few PM patients that have made comments about taking plaquenil for PM. I’m seeing that most couldn’t tell if this drug was helping any. It did seem to help various types of lupus patients very well. Are there any PM patients on the roadback that could tell after 6 months if Plaquenil was a good choice for them? I’m searching on the internet and trying to find if Plaquenil can lower one’s CPK from PM and bring it down to normal levels.

Thanks. I’m at a very difficult road with my new Dr. He wants me to get off of mino and take plaquenil twice daily. I know he’d not like for me to continue on AP although I want to! I may have to drive the long road back to Texas and see Dr. K in Lufkin. I’ve also noticed the past week that my eyes and mouth are so very dry. I’m thinking I know have Sjogrens and maybe that is why my Chromatin was very high on the one of the lupas tests. Should I go to a Rhuemy with this new problem or go straight to my eye doctor? My eye doctor about 6 months ago have me a over the counter eye drop for dry eyes, telling me it was age and maybe being a diabetic 2. I’m concerned about taking the plaquenil and now having problems with my eyes being so dry ๐Ÿ˜• I was so healthy till I got into my late 40’s. Now I feel the bottom is going to fall out from under me.

Polymyositis: Minocycline of 100 mg Daily
Diabetes 2: Metformin 1,000 mg Twice Daily
    Osteroarthritis
What is the world will now darken my door? ๐Ÿ™„

If one was to keep up the AP Therapy with Plaquenil added, should one keep the same dosage of once a day of 100 mg of Minocycline or twice a day of 100 mg of Minocycline? Would like to know if others have and how much they took. My new RA Dr. I know would be against mixing the two. He wants me to take Plaquenil twice daily ๐Ÿ™„

Thanks for the very informative info. Dr. wants me to get off of minocycline and on to plaquenil and in six weeks retest to see if it’s the minocycline causing my liver enzymes to be slightly elevated. Would it be wise to consider doing this? I’ve just been reading about minocyline triggering autoimmune hepatitis and am wondering if I’m in the beginning stages of this. I’m not feeling bad, just stiff in the mornings and still have a little muscle weakness from PM. Just confused on what to do.
