Hi Maz,
That is very possible that the reduction in Mino led to my relapse. I came off enbrel over a 6 month period (advice from Dr S) after being on it for 7 years.
Thanks for the contact details, I will check that out. I will also ask my Rheumy about it at my next apt. She was supportive of taking minocyclene given the good results, she does believe it is an old fashioned drug, and that biologics are a lot better at treats the sympthons. Hopefully she will support me talking it along with Humeria for a while.

Sorry for my delay. I did not realise that one could take a biologic and AP. I do think I need something to support Humeria, but don’t want that to me methotrexate.
I’m not 100% sure why it stopped working, but I know I was lax taking my meds during Summer 2018. Maybe this gave the disease time to re-establish. However I went back on the mino and things eventually settled down for a few months before flaring again. Maybe it is no longer effective for me, I don’t know.
As for Lupus, I’ve had multiple blood tests but it wasn’t mentioned.
DR E’s clinic. I’m not sure who this doctor is, however I cannot get in contact with my old AP doctor (Dr P, from UK). I’m in Ireland now and not aware of anybody here who offers this protocol.
I must re-read that AP book to refresh on other antibiotic protocols.
Thanks and I hope you are keeping well?
Paul

I had been on this in the past whilst in the UK. I am on it again for the past 4 days, and already feel like I have more energy. Fingers crossed this will help me get back on track. But again, thank you so much, this is one of the reasons this forum is so helpful.

I have mailed Dr S and will let you know of any response.
September 16, 2019 at 3:33 pm #464863Dunlop321ParticipantHi Maz
Thanks for you reply. I didn’t realise that AP didn’t prevent flares.
I haven’t been screened for dile, but will mention to my Rheumy in October. I think it is a flare however. The pains are less sharp since mid last week thank god. Taking a few anti inflams each week to keep under control.
I have had blood results back from late August. My RA factor has continued to decline to 34. My Anti CCp has increased to 117 vs 37 in April 2018, while my ESR has increased to 14 vs 11 in Apr 2019.
As for a change in generics, my pharmacist has insisted there has been no change. She even ran the pharmaceutical company to confirm. I’m on a version on minocycline made by a different company now.
I have sero positive RA.
September 10, 2019 at 2:42 am #464833Dunlop321ParticipantThanks Spiffy. In Ireland, where I am, Minocin is just another generic. Interesting thought on possibly changing antibiotic. Are you suggesting just changing generic?
September 10, 2019 at 2:40 am #464832Dunlop321ParticipantHi Phil,
I’ve been taking 100mg 5 times a week of a generic called Minocin for c.3 years. I’ve now changed to another generic called Minocil. Both are minocycline. All together I’m on minicycline in some form since Jan 2014.
Where Dr Brown says rotate, does he mean change generic or move away from Minocycline to another antibiotic?
September 10, 2019 at 2:35 am #464831Dunlop321ParticipantHi there,
Minocine and Minocil are available in Ireland to purchase if you have a prescription.
UK also has a number of brands like Acmino.

January 15, 2019 at 7:21 am #463646Dunlop321ParticipantHi April,
In my case, my pains increased considerably, was very tired. This lasted a number of weeks. Gradually things improved, and the first thing I noticed was having extra energy and a better mood. My RA markers in my blood scores also increased during the Herx, particularly ESR.
January 15, 2019 at 7:17 am #463645Dunlop321ParticipantHI Cosmo, yes Meda SA does come from Ireland, which is where I am. The pharmacy tells me they are the exact same.
January 15, 2019 at 7:15 am #463644Dunlop321ParticipantThanks all for your comments. they were a great help.
Thankfully my symptoms settled down, and I am taking my dose 5 times per week. As Cindy mentioned, perhaps it was a Herx, given I started taking my medication, after being so patchy with it.
Fingers cross all continues to go well.
Happy New Year to you.
November 28, 2018 at 3:15 am #463389Dunlop321ParticipantHI,
I’m on mino since 2013. It has worked really well for me and I have been in remission. I had even gotten sloppy around taking my regular dose of mino (easy to do).
About 6 weeks ago, I noticed a mini flare which has gradually gotten worse. I’ve also had a stressful time recently. I’m now taking my mino regularly and also some anti inflams.
Any advice or tips would be welcome?April 27, 2016 at 3:27 pm #455535Dunlop321ParticipantThank you very much Maz. Going to make a conscious effort to try and not get stressed. Have upped my anti inflammatory tablets after reading that section from Dr Browns book. Defo feel a bit better today. Hopefully this will pass. Yes am in the UK, was sunny and warm last week and snowing this week. Very strange weather.
April 26, 2016 at 12:45 pm #455525Dunlop321ParticipantThanks Maz, that’s a great help. Have listed out my replies below. Think I need to figure out s way to relieve this stress. Hopefully it will pass in a week or so.
