Studies now show that up to 40%f the population may be deficient in Vitamin B 12 /News BBC/ There are two forms of this vitamin on the market – cyanocobalamin, 100 times cheaper than methylcobalamin. Cyanocobalamin is a low-grade, low quality and slightly toxic /cyanide/ form of Vitamin B 12 and we are being warned by the different scientists and doctors /Dr Brwonstein one of them/ to avoid it completely. I have been looking for Vitamin B complex and noticed that all of them include cyanocobalamin. I have written to one of the manufacturers and here is their reply:

    Thank you for your enquiry.
As you are no doubt aware, the vitamin B12 compound comes in many forms, with the most common being cyanocobalamin. This the only form of B12 that has been granted approval for sale within Australia by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).
Upon ingestion of cyanocobalamin, the molecule is converted by the body into either methylcobalamin or adenosylcobalamin and the cyanide molecule is removed. The amount of cyanide involved in this process is actually very small and poses very little risk to good health. In fact, cyanide can be found in many of the fruits and vegetables that we consume regularly and, like these foods, the amount of cyanide present in cyanocobalamin is not considered to pose any risk to our normal physiological processes.
Our bodies are designed to deal with tiny amounts of ingredients that can be toxic in large doses. We know that fruit and vegetables are good for us, and our bodies are capable of handling the small amounts of chemicals they contain; similarly, our bodies need sufficient vitamin B12, and are well capable of handling the infinitesimal amount of cyanide present in its chemical structure. The Australian, UK and American governments have all concluded that cyanocobalamin is suitable for supplemental use in humans
