ParticipantHi Laurie
so sorry to hear your brother is struggling and how wonderful of you to try to help him. I am also in Canada but in BC. It is not too difficult to get AP in this province as the many naturopathic doctors have prescribing rights here. I also did a lot of Clindamycin IV. I don’t think this is the case in Ontario but it is definitely something to look into. People had been travelling to BC for care and follow up through telemedicine though I think the powers that be have shut that down now.
Have you tried to get the AP from general practitioners? I find they have been much more open to it than the rheumatologists, though I have had two rheumies change their opinion once they saw me get to remission. All in the naturopaths have been the most helpful though. Have you printed off the physican packet from this site and maybe some testimonials? I don’t know if any of this is helpful to you but I do wish you and your brother well. Please feel free to message me any time.
best to you,

ParticipantHello Kate,
My brother has given the info to his dr.s but no one is willing to even try. I have not tried calling a naturopath, I will now! My brother seems to be giving up hope. I mention all this to him and he figures the doctors he sees are supposed to have the newest meds. I am not sure he believes what I tell him because when his doctors do not believe he loses hope that it can work. I will call some naturopathic drs to see what they say.
I will also print testimonials and the packet again for my brother to give to his drs, no harm in trying again with more info (testimonials)! Thank you for the suggestion. I truly appreciate your help.

ParticipantHi Laurie,
You may want to get your brother a copy of this book:
Scleroderma: The Proven Therapy that Can Save Your Life, by Henry Scammell
It’s an old book, so you may be able to find a copy at a local library, and there are probably a lot of used copies floating around.

ParticipantHi Phil
I found that book last year as well as The New Arthritis Breakthrough. I read them both and told my brother about them but he doesn’t want to read them. I asked him to take the books to his dr’s as well but he hasn’t. I printed lots of info that he has taken to the dr’s but none will do AP therapy. It is very frustrating that dr’s will not try something when you explain others have had success with.
Thank you for your suggestion. I was fortunate enough to come across these books and it really gave me hope but trying to convince my brother is something else.
I will keep trying.
Thank you again,
Laurie -
