RedHill Biopharma Announces Completion of Dosing in
Phase IIa Study of RHB-104 for Multiple Sclerosis
    About RHB-104:
Currently in a first Phase III study for the treatment of Crohn’s disease (the MAP US study)
and a second Phase III study which is being prepared (the MAP EU study), RHB-104 is a
proprietary and potentially groundbreaking antibiotic combination therapy in oral capsule
formulation, with potent intracellular, anti-mycobacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
RHB-104 is based on increasing evidence supporting the hypothesis that Crohn’s disease is
caused by Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis (MAP) infection in susceptible
    patients.

Mom of teen daughter with Poly JIA since age 2. Current med: azithromycin 250 mg MWF.

Suzanne!!! This is huge! They are already running the clinical trial for Crohn’s all over the country. Now they have made the connection that MS may have an infectious cause too. Yes, we already know about Stratton and Wheldon’s brilliant ap work for MS but when big pharma takes note – sad but true it takes big pharma to change how mainstream thinks- but when pharma takes note and funds the studies maybe the ride will finally turn for the cure!

What’s interesting is that redhill has combined three antibiotics into one pill
and they believe it can cure Crohn’s and possibly MS.
“RHB-104 is a triple antibiotic formula that is used to treat MAP bacterium. MAP is a shorter way of saying “Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis” bacterium. The inception of RHB-104 dates back to the late 1990s with development being started by Dr. Thomas Borody of the Centre for Digestive Diseases. The three components of RHB-104 are Rifabutin, Clarithromycin and Clofazimine which are all rather common antibiotics, the difference is in using all three, dosage level & duration of treatment.”

Dr. H.z is working with Dr. Z. at Johns Hopkins. I know Maz has something ready to post on this!

“Drug Combinations against Borrelia burgdorferi Persisters In Vitro: Eradication Achieved by Using Daptomycin, Cefoperazone and Doxycycline”

Finally mainstream is making the connection!

I recently met a patient of Dr Thomas Borody in Sydney (he’s the Sydney specialist who “invented” fecal transplants and who is regarded as a maverick by many conventional medicos and a god by his patients). He had such bad Crohns that he was down to 110 pounds and was fading fast. Brody treated him with a fecal transplant and abx (I think with this triple combo). He now has no sign of Crohns and is back up to normal weight for a 40 year old male and is able to eat normally.

    Be well! Lynnie

The original or patent was called Myconda, owned by Giaconda LTD. Sold to Redhill some years ago. As I have posted previously, this drug looks promising for the treatment of RA too. Fingers crossed !
