I’m tapering off prednisone, I’m around 7mgs and I feel so grouchy I wish I could get away from myself. Anyone have advice for the grouchy aspect of tapering off of prednisone. I am trying to be grateful that I feel good enough to taper but at the same time,I’m in such a bad mood:( I suppose I can taper slower and it will help. I thought maybe there was a vitamin or supplement out there that has helped someone with the same issue.Thank you.

    You may find this helpful:

Also, try typing ‘weaning pred’ into the search box at the top of General Discussion front page for helpful tips from others who have done this. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks Lynnie for the article, it was interesting. I would have never taken prednisone if I had heard about it’s side effects. Before my RA diagosis I never had a long term prescription, so I was not educated in medicine. At least now I read everything before I decide to take it.

How is your health and arthritis? Hope you are doing well. Take care,

Thanks Sheri. Yes am doing well. Had a wobbly first few months of this year. Then some additional bugs picked up (including a resurfacing of CPn) and am on a different regime for now. Seems to have done the trick.

Prednisone (or prednisolone as the form some take it in) is what I would call a prime example of a Faustian Contract. Such sweet relief in the short term, paid for in the long term. Take it easy, take it very slow and be kind to yourself
