I have wondered all along… is the initial flare the worst?  For me it has been.  The worst inflamation and the worst pain.  And the inflamation never seems to leave.  I've only had 3 joints flare so far – left knee – Nov. 2006, right ankle – April 2007, and left thumb – May 2007.  I know I am lucky to only have 3 joints involved and it's been almost 10 months with no new flares so that's good.  I always wondered what the rest of you experience…

I remember reading in The Arthritis Breakthrough that those who have severe sudden onset usually have a less severe disease that those who's disease comes on slow and steady.  I remember my onset like it was yesterday, I felt so sick all over in addition to joint pain, but it gradually kept getting worse until I got on AP.  Everyone with RA is different, and that is what makes treating us all that much more difficult!
