I’m debating getting a flu shot this year. I’m not looking for a conversation about flu shots in general, as I know there are strong opinions on both sides. Instead, I’m wondering specifically about those of us going through autoimmune issues, is it safe to get a vaccination that is geared to amp up your immune system? And conversely, if I don’t get a vaccine, what does getting the flu itself do to your immune system? Doesn’t your immune system amp up then, to fight the virus?

I just don’t want to make my RA worse. I’ve gotten the flu shot almost every year for the last 20 years, and have never had a problem with it, have never gotten the flu. (not suggesting that the shot gives you the flu, instead saying, it has generally worked well for me.)
