Does anyone know about plaque nil or quinicrine causing muscle weakness?

Not much myself, but a post early on for (possibly similar) weakness I was feeling and a possible suspicion:

Not sure if that is helpful or not.

Just FYI on that post: I stopped the plaquenil and continued with my other diet changes, etc. The weakness did not stop immediately, but did subside so I do not know if it was related to what was outlined in that discussion.

Hoping your mystery and challenge get resolved, best regards, Dawn 🙄

Thank you! Yes it did help. I see others have experienced the same tightness I am feeling I will talk to my doctor about going off and see what she says.

just giving an update in case anyone has any feedback for me. I went off the plaquenil and the quinicrine to see if the muscle weakness would subside. It did not. I went back to my dermatomyositis specialist at UPENN and she put me back up on Prednisone (20 mg to start) and on Cellcept. I have been fighting doing this for over a year – but this new addition of muscle weakness has me very scared. So I agreed and have been on 20 mg of prednisone and started on 2000 mg of Cellcept for a month. After a month my muscles felt GREAT and my skin is almost completely cleared up- which I attribute to the prednisone – not the cellcept – because I think it’s too early. Now I am weaning down to 17…15 mgs of Prednisone while she upped my Cellcept to 3000 mgs. I am scared – but feel like I have no other option. I am not experiencing any side effects at all and actually feel better for a change. Has anyone had success with cellcept on here? The doctor says I will be on cellcept “indefinitely” which I don’t like AT ALL. Is there any reason why I can’t try weaning down that as well if I have a prolonged period without symptoms?

Are you taking any other meds? Are you taking minocycline or another antibiotic?
