The Dr Bernstein Diabetic Forum has been around for many years, promoting the same diet i.e. very low carbs (no grains) and high in fat to control or prevent diabetes. Dr Bernstein himself is diabetic – he lives in Chicago – and has published several books about the dangers of grains and high GI (sugar) fruits and vegetables. About 2001, I read a book called ‘The Myth of Cholesterol’ (can’t remember the author) which explained the dangers of the statin drugs (based on the myth of cholesterol) and the terrible damage they cause. I don’t normally have cholesterol tests done (because I don’t believe in the myth of ‘good’ and ‘bad’ cholesterol) although my doctor recently included one with other blood tests – the ‘bad’ cholesterol was ‘high’ – I told the Dr I thought the test result was rubbish – and that I know that statin drugs are very harmful to muscles and nerves – and a week later after another blood test my so called ‘bad’ cholesterol was apparently ‘low’. Huh! Proves the myth. Good to see other doctors finally starting to publish more accurate information.

I’ll be happy to read his article when it opens up again!
In the meantime, an article featuring the main concepts from the “Grain Brain” book: “Are Grains Destroying Our brains?”
http://www.holisticprimarycare.net/topics/topics-a-g/functional-medicine/1516-are-grains-destroying-our-brains-.html“Grain Brain” on Amazon has lots of pages available for free reading within “Look Inside”.

Krys – the tinyurl link that I provided still works – have just tried it. It’s a very good article, which also covers fasting.
You can also go to the Grain Brain author’s site for more info
