How do I get a prescription for clarithromycin if I can’t find a doctor who will prescribe it? I don’t think I can tolerate doxy or mino because of side effects. Would like to try a new antibiotic.

Tested positive for M. pneumoniae and C. pneumoniaeCurrent meds: Kineret 100mg, doxycycline 50mg, cbd oil, and celebrex

Are you still on 100mg minocycline on just M-W-F as described in your signature line? What side-effects are you experiencing? I’m just wondering if it may by your generic (some are duds), or if your dose may need tweaking, or if it’s something else.

March 12, 2018 at 2:00 pm #461637MazKeymasterHi Aboyer,
I’ve sent you a PM with some potential doc options for AL. If you can travel, there are other options, too. Just let me know.
Yes, many folks find doxy isn’t as effective for RA as mino. Sometimes it’s a dosing issue (e.g. a higher dose of doxy is needed) or a brand issue.
What caused you to switch from mino to doxy?
What symptoms were you experiencing on mino?
What dose/brand were you taking?
How long did you try mino for?
Any other meds or supps in your daily regimen?
Any other health issues besides RA? e.g., thyroid.
Sorry if you’ve posted about this here before, but some detail can sometimes help forum members to chip in with some fellow-patient insight.

What kind of side effects, and how much doxy are you taking now? When did you first start (on mino or doxy)? Are you still taking NAC?
