Clinical determinants of Lyme borreliosis, babesiosis, bartonellosis, anaplasmosis, and ehrlichiosis in an Australian cohort. Int J Gen Med. 2014 Dec 23;8:15-26. eCollection 2015.

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25565883

    CONCLUSION:

The study suggests that there is a considerable presence of borreliosis in Australia, and a highly significant burden of coinfections accompanying borreliosis transmission. The concept sometimes advanced of a “Lyme-like illness” on the continent needs to be re-examined as the clinical interplay between all these infections. Evidence is presented for the first report of endemic anaplasmosis and ehrlichiosis on the continent.”

Wow! Finally they have admitted it. I have copied and pasted to my GP who doesn’t believe it. Thank you Maz.

Pleasure, Linda. Was hoping it might help some Aussies. Did you see the following on the Aussie show, “Sunday Night,” as well? I think it was aired sometime in November, but your doc might like to watch this, too! 😉

It’s kind of farcical watching the doctors in Australia speak from both sides of the debate, as it’s like a broken record on repeat! One of the “denialists” speaks as if he is reading right off the “script” of one of the well-known chronic Lyme denialists here in the US! If you haven’t watched, “Under Our Skin,” you’ll soon see what I mean when you do:

Here are a few more studies for you, but there are is a wealth of growing research for Lyme in Australia:

Thank you Maz. Yes, I will show it to my doc even risking my friendship with him. I didn’t watch that program in November.
I hope they will do more tests and change some rules here soon /Medicare/

Hope so, Linda. Here in the US, the Lyme controversy still rages.

And another Lyme story in the Sydney Morning Herald, although this young lady appears to have contracted Lyme in the US while on a trip:

I am surprised that doctors removed her tonsils and appendix.

RA tried everything: Methotraxate, Arava, Humira. Pneumonia three times. Anemia. Very low iron. Hypothyroidism
AP from April 2014 till August 2015. No luck.
Current medications: Natural thyroid, Mobic, supplements,
    vitamins and minerals.
    MTHFR heterozygous
