I've  taken voltaren  (50mg suppositories  3  times a  day) for  more  than  a year.  My  doctor does blood tests of  my liver and  kidney  function every 2  months  and so  far  everything is fine.  With  RA,  you  have to pick your  poisons.  If you look at  the  list  of  possible side-effects  for  methotraxate,  you'll  faint.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what is new here.  Yes, NSAIDS have had a warning about stomach ulcers and the need to maintain observation of kidney and liver values.  As far as I can tell, there is absolutely nothing new here.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

Randy – this is new information on some severe adverse hepatic effects that have been monitored and have caused Novartis to revise its warning re this drug and the liver. Lynnie

Posted 12/04/2009] Endo, Novartis and FDA notified healthcare professionals of revisions to the Hepatic Effects section of the prescribing information to add new warnings and precautions about the potential for elevation in liver function tests during treatment with all products containing diclofenac sodium.
In postmarketing reports, cases of drug-induced hepatotoxicity have been reported in the first month but can occur at any time during treatment with diclofenac. Postmarketing surveillance has reported cases of severe hepatic reactions, including liver necrosis, jaundice, fulminant hepatitis with and without jaundice, and liver failure. Some of these reported cases resulted in fatalities or liver transplantation.
