I know that many of us are allergic to the different products. I am allergic to latex /confirmed, severe/ Interesting that they connect the latex allergy with potatoes, tomatoes…. /nightshade vegies/

Cross-reactions may occur between the residual parts of plant proteins in the latex rubber and proteins in foods, just like cross-reactions between pollen and foods. The most commonly reported cross-reactive foods include banana, avocado, kiwi, and chestnut together with papaya, fig, potato, and tomato. Around 30-80% of people with latex allergy experience symptoms when they eat one or more of these food

I was on AP and I wasn’t lucky as you can see on my signature. It is not a closed chapter for me to try AP again. I have a very sensitive stomach /even to supplements/, a leaky gut etc. what I try to treat now.

I have been around here 19 years now –while the broad objective is the use of antibiotic in treating rheumatic disease -there are many subjects while not directly related are both informative and helpful to folks with these problems -for example if a person is on biologics and it was either helpful or harmful people here should know about it —–If I can pick up one useful idea -thats a gain !!!

In some cases, it may be that a functional medicine approach (for people who are hypersensitive to AP or who suffer co-morbidities) can help a patient to weed through co-factors that are creating hypersentivities or an inability to tolerate AP at the outset. Then, once imbalances are identified and corrected (e.g., leaky gut, or thyroid imbalance) a person may be better positioned to re-trial AP. There was one lady here who had heavy metal toxicity (Mercury) and she was so sensitive to AP that even the smallest dose of minocycline (a 100mg capsule split down to 25mg) would initiate unbearable herxing. Once she got her silver fillings removed and did chelation for her heavy metal load), she was able to tolerate minocycline just fine. Another lady had a similar issue, but it turned out she had a case of Lyme and was coinfected with babesiosis. Her AP doc was unable to manage her case, so a LLMD was sought out and she was able to figure out a different antibiotic protocol that worked. It took time to figure out the puzzle though.

Yes, I have thyroid imbalance as well. Thyroid specialists say that if you have hypothyroidism you can get RA or osteo and when you treat thyroid you will treat these diseases as well. Also they say that many patients are underdiagnosed /50% in america alone/for thyroid because doctors treat labs /laboratory results in frames/ not symptoms. And because of that the patients try treating RA, osteo and other diseases not knowing that their thyroid needs help. I am going to start natural thyroid soon. The only thing is that I’ve read in the book by Mark Starr “Hypothyroidism Type 2: The epidemic” that people with antibodies/Hashimoto should stick to the synthetic form of thyroid, not natural.
